And just like that, summer is over. No more beaches, late night bonfire chilling with friends, sleeping in till noon, and most of all vacation. It seems like just yesterday I was taking my last final of the spring semester and starting to pack up all my clothes… 3 months of summer vacation just seems to keep going by faster and faster every year; but I suppose that’s what happens when you grow up.
Now I wouldn’t say that my summer break wasn’t good, but it wasn’t the best one ive ever had. That prize was given to the summer of 2012 because that was hands down the best 3 months ive probably ever had so far. But anyway, it was just alright which is to say that it was most definitely average. Oh well.
One of the perks of being in college is that we get out for summer break in like mid may which means that is the PERFECT time to go to amusement parks. Literally though, all the little munchkin children are still in school dreaming their summer fantasies while I’m riding all the roller coasters all day long. A road trip to our “hometown” Hershey Park and Kings Dominion were had which were nice. I hadn’t been to Kings Dominion in ages so actually being able to ride the greats like “Volcano” and “The Grizzly” was awesome (I’m a huge roller coaster fanatic if you couldn’t tell from previous posts). I did a lot of working at the pool this summer as well and being assistant manager means that you have all-day shifts, which just makes me hate children even more. But it coulda been worse I suppose because working at a pool means tanning and then actually having time to relax around my fire pit at home until say 3 am.
All this is great and relaxing is fun and all but I am quite ready to be back at school and on that college grind. I hate to be THAT guy but… I’m just ready for fall, football games, soccer comes back, and more importantly swimming! I love summer but I think I love fall and being back at school even more. I’ve missed the large organized sporting events and all my friends I made last year. I’m ready for coolish weather and being able to wear jeans and a t-shirt instead of sweating my ass off walking to and from class. But we just gotta make the best of it because next thing I know I’ll be graduating and being in the real world… ew.
