What have I done with my winter break? Well recently I’ve noticed myself sitting on the couch watching Top Gear on BBC America. The first time I saw this program was at a friend’s house over a year ago and I was hooked from then on. It truly is an absolutely fantastic show that is both factual (all relative) and entertaining even if you’re not a car enthusiast. I am most certainly not the most knowledgeable when it comes to cars.. well actually to be quite frank I’m not good with cars at all. The most I’ve ever done mechanically on my vehicle includes checking the tire pressure, changing the windscreen wipers and of course, washing it.
But that’s not why I watch the show. I watch it because it is brilliant good fun! Jeremy, Richard, and James on their own are great hosts but when placed together they create something that may just be the most entertaining thing I have ever witnessed. And what makes it better is the fact that they are British with attitudes like that of a rich snob living in the Hamptons, combined with a mechanics Albert Einstein, crossed with a jesters funny antics. Seriously they work so well together that I have a most difficult time deciding which one is my favorite. If I had to choose though, I think I would pick Richard Hammond. Although Jeremy has all the crazy hilarious metaphors and explanations.
“If you are ten and you are watching this right now, it’s exactly as good as you think it is. It is actually that good.” ~Richard Hammond
I think that my favorite episodes are the ones that have the hosts going on outrageous adventures around the world and doing quite possibly the stupidest things with automobiles. These are when the best random things happen, they get into trouble, or fiddle with each others cars and it makes for a great way to spend an hour. These are the best, I wish they did more of them because the funniest stuff happens in these episodes.
Needless to say I am quite utterly addicted to this show, every time it is on you better believe your ass I’m watching it. I have been watching Top Gear far too much as of late and I’m not sure if that is good for me or not. I have started to use their “British lingo” on pronunciation of certain things. To the dismay of my parents and friends but the more I watch it the worse it gets haha. Although it’s really not that bad. Top Gear takes me to a calm place and a place where I want to be. It helps me relax and not worry about “real life” and all its troubles. As of recently I have watched a lot due to the issues I have been dealing with personally. But anyway, I see all the crazy fun that the hosts have and all the awkwardness surrounded with them and I want it. I live to be awkward and spontaneous and want to have the care-free kind of life as them. It should be illegal to have that much fun at work in the first place… So in a nut shell Top Gear is the best show ever created and everyone should watch it.
